"It's gonna smell like cinnamon rolls in here!"

This is probably the best idea we have ever come up with and carried through. Happy Cinnamon Roll Day! Good job Tattarn and Grandma. Big fat high five on that one.

In the middle of the baking process it occurs to Olivia; "It's gonna smell like cinnamon rolls in here!" And yes, that is correct. For those of you who did not know that; the smell of cinnamon rolls is the best smell in the whole wide world. Come over to our place and we will prove it to you.

The cinnamon rolls at 305!

Today, October 4 as it still is here in the US, is the official Day of the Cinnamon Roll. For those of you not familiar with the concept, please visit Wikipedia to learn more (however, I would like to state that in Sweden it is most certainly not common with raisins decoration the buns).

My dear roommate Olivia and I figured that: hey, it's only Kanelbullens Dag once per year and so what if we happen to be in America this particular day - we want cinnamon rolls and we will bake them with our bare hands.

Said and done, even though we were unbelievably tired after a long day on campus, we walked to Harris Teeter to buy the ingredients and at this very moment we are in the middle of the first rising of the dough.

Some cultural things are just too good to completely give up while you are away from home. Kanelbullens Dag - The day of the Cinnamon Roll - is just a tradition like that.

To be continued...

Leave the Bodybuilder alone.

It's odd, some things. You want to have a nice body, well at least I do, no need in saying anything against that. I honestly don't care about what others think of my body, but of course it is nice if others appreciate it. However, do you really want people to tell you that you have a nice body while you are sweaty, in the middle of a workout, trying hard to do your pullups?

I don't think I want that. For some reason, it becomes more of a nasty and offensive comment than a compliment. I want the gym to be for the people working out, not for the ones checking others out. Please.

I'd rather be a bodybuilder than some kind of - other object. And I wish we could all just think before we speak. You know, to try to figure out if what we are about to say is appropriate or not. Context, sender, receiver, all that. Leave the bodybuilder alone, she just wants to work out!

Time and timing.

A relatively young, nonetheless very intelligent, person once told me "Life isn't about time, it's about timing." To a certain extent I believe he was right in saying so, however, I would not leave it all up to the timing as it is. I think life is a lot about how you deal with your timing.

Do you seize the opportunity when the timing is right or do you run away from it all? Do you even interpret the timing as right or do you always believe it's wrong?

I have experienced that my timing in certain fields always seem to be a total catastrophe so I have taken a step back. I would not say I have given up, because I am not really a quitter, but I have taken a step back and decided to focus elsewhere.

I don't rely my hopes and dreams upon good timing. I try to work hard, make the most out of my time and focus on the fields where I most likely will succeed. If the schedule turns out to be good, I guess that will just be a bonus.

The Very Funny Lady.

Remember the VeryFunnyLady, Leighann Lord, I told you about the other day? She had fun, we had fun, everybody won on that one!

Definitely more comedy shows for the people. Laugh and live longer, that's how they say it is.

10/02/11 - I don't know you yet.

I don't know you - yet you are already one of my favorites
I don't know you - yet you already speak to me with just one look
I don't know you - yet I know you will always give me that special something
I don't know you - yet I know I will always have a special place for you in my heart

I don't know you - yet I feel like I've known you forever and I know we will be good friends for always

Ethics, law and research.

Sunday evening greetings from the student.

The afternoon turned out to be more about discussing education in America versus Sweden than reading about ethics, law and research within the PR field. However, networking, making new friends and learning about the American culture is just as important, I believe.

This very moment, I am only accompanied by Carla Bruni and I daydream (Sundayeveningdream?) a little bit about la Côte d'Azur - Nissa la Bella.

Back to business. The PR business. Which I wish will be my business one day. And maybe that day, I will have the possibility to always have one foot somewhere around that beautiful area. I think about what the teabag told me this morning and I stay hopeful.

Think it and you can do it.

More teabag wisdom. Perfect note to the student on a Sunday like this; exam coming up and things to write. And important to remember the rest of the week too. I am trying to let my thoughts decide my days and I am trying to keep my thoughts positive.

What goes around, comes around.

Stan-up Comedy Virgins - not anymore!

Bergström and Bergström (B1 and B2) were up until this night Stand-up Comedy Virgins. We decided to do something about it, so B2 googled around and found a show that was on, just two blocks away from our house. Perfect!

We took the elevator up to the 14th floor of the DoubleTree By Hilton Hotel, ordered two virgin drinks and got ready to laugh. And we did! We sure picked the right night with a VeryFunnyLady.com! At one point, she made was talking about Swedish massage and we just had to pick up on that one.

When we left the show and walked past the VeryFunnyLady, B2 - who looks more typically Swedish than B1 - asked if she wanted some Swedish massage. This woman, Leighann Lord, started laughing and it all ended up with her asking if she could take a picture with us. "Only if we can take a picture with you too," was the response of B1.

Pictures were taken, and another funny thing; we had the same camera! Do I need to tell you that B1 and B2 ran giggling from the show and stated that stand-up comedy rules!?

Welcome fall, hi October!

Fall is here.

The other day, they said on the news that Saturday would mark the beginning of this new season and I believe that forecast was pretty accurate. The temperature has dropped to 50°F (approximately 10°C) and the air is, for the first time since I got here, fresh.

I'm spending yet another day at Busboys & Poets, this time in DC, with the main goal to finish a journalism assignment; The Profile.

Welcome fall, hi October. October is, by the way, our next family member's month. Any day now, Pyret, you are more than welcome!
